Park City Summer Secrets!

Park City Summer Secrets!

Park City is a famous skiing destination, regularly appearing on all the best-known Top 10 lists. It’s definitely a magical wintertime wonderland for many happy vacationers.

But did you know that summers are pretty awesome here, too? It’s true! It’s a well-guarded secret, but we’re going to let you in on it. And we’re going to tell you the reasons you should consider Park City as much your go-to summer destination as winter.

Weather

While the rest of the country is sweating it out, we’re breezing along with daytime temps between the mid-70s and low 80s. Ahhh!

Pair that with the low mountain humidity and you’ve got the ideal daytime environment, for any activity that appeals to you.

Something for Both Introverts and Extroverts

Here’s the cool things about Park City in the summer. With far fewer tourists, there’s a laid-back “locals” vibe around town. Not to mention that fewer people means fewer crowds all around. That translates to a lot less stress for those folks who prefer a more quiet atmosphere.

For those who like the energy of a crowd, there’s plenty for you, too. Summertime in Park City means an abundance of summer festivals and music concerts. As just one example, check out the Canyons Village Summer Concert Series, which is every Thursday until the end of August. There are many more!

Hiking

Here’s how to really enjoy those cooler temperatures. Throw on your hiking shoes, and head out to one of the many scenic trails in and around Park City.

Wondering which is best for your skill level? For beginners or easy family hikes, check out Farm Trail, a paved trail which winds through Park City’s historic McPolin Barn off of Highway 224.

The Round Valley Trail System features both easy and moderate trails in its 700-mile trail system. Access some of the trailheads at Quinn’s Junction and Old Ranch Road.

For more experienced hikers, you’ll want to visit Fantasy Ridge, which features six miles of beautiful scenery and breathtaking views at its 9900’ peak.

Biking

Mountain bikers, take note. You will LOVE Park City!

From novice to expert, you’ll find the perfect trail to fit your abilities and get a great ride.

Beginners will want to start with the Lost Prospector trail, which is easily accessed from several vantage points and a great introductory mountain biking trail. It cruises along the historic Union Pacific Rail Trail.

Intermediates will enjoy the Flying Dog Trail, in the Glenwild area of Park City and the Mid-Mountain Trail, starting in the Deer Valley Resort

Those hardy souls who can withstand advanced level mountain biking will find their thrills at the Wasatch Crest Trail, accessible from several different points and the Flagstaff Loop, at Deer Valley Resort’s Silver Lake area.

Farmer’s Market

Whatever you do, make sure you reserve one Sunday for the Park City Farmer’s Market from 12-5. Part organic food, part local artisan crafts, part music, and all fun, it’s a must-do on your summer Park City agenda.

Defy Gravity

No summertime list of outdoor Park City events would be complete without ziplining, alpine coasters, and alpine slides. Downhill exhilaration without the effort!

Whatever activity you decide to indulge in, we look forward to welcoming you to Park City and one of our vacation rental accommodations. Don’t forget to ask for recommendations, we love to share what we know!
