A Park City Checklist: 5 Steps For Booking Your Late-Winter Escape

ADVANCED SEARCH

If you’re currently staring at your calendar and realizing the optimal ski season is slipping through your fingers, don’t panic—but do start packing. While December gets all the holiday glory and January brings the Sundance buzz, the real ones know that February and March are the true MVPs of the Park City season.

The days are longer, the sun is actually warm enough to enjoy an après-ski drink on the deck, and the “Greatest Snow on Earth” is usually at its deepest. However, a legendary late-winter trip doesn’t happen by accident. To help you navigate the home stretch of the season, our staff at Moose Management has put together the ultimate “Plan Your Powder” checklist.

1. Secure Your “Home Base” (Before Someone Else Does)

By late winter, the “hidden gems” of the rental market are usually occupied. However, late-season shifts often mean a few prime properties—like our cozy townhomes in Wasatch Springs or luxury condos at the Retreat at Jordanelle—pop back onto the availability list.

When booking, look for features that make late-winter skiing better: a private hot tub (non-negotiable for those weary legs), a heated garage, and proximity to the Jordanelle Express Gondola to beat the Main Street traffic. These are just a few of our suggestions. (As always, we’re here for you if you have questions. Call us or text us at 435-714-6544.)

2. Lock In Your Lift Access

Gone are the days of rolling up to the ticket window and paying with a smile. If you don’t have an Epic or Ikon pass, you need to buy your day passes now. Prices climb as the dates approach, and some days may even reach capacity.

Pro tip: If you’re skiing Deer Valley, remember they limit daily ticket sales to keep the slopes from feeling like a crowded subway station—so book those early!

3. Outsource the Stress

The secret to a “vacation” that actually feels like a vacation? Delegation! Our super-helpful, local Moose staff can help with anything you need. Plus, our partnership with Done Concierge Service can help you with… well, nearly everything, honestly! Check them out here.

Ski Rentals: Don’t stand in line at the base area. Use a service that delivers your gear directly to your rental home. You can get fitted in your living room while wearing pajamas!

Groceries: Use a local delivery service to stock your fridge before you arrive. There is nothing worse than landing at SLC at 6:00 PM and realizing you have to fight for the last gallon of milk at the market.

4. Plan for “Off-Mountain” Fun

By March, Park City’s event calendar is heating up. Check the schedule for live music at the Canyons Village stage or theater productions at the Egyptian. If your legs need a break, book a mid-week snowshoe tour or a bobsled run at the Utah Olympic Park.

The weather in late winter is often “bluebird,” making it the perfect time for outdoor activities that don’t involve vertical drops.

5. Dress in Layers (AKA the “Spring Skiing” Trap)

March in Park City can be a wild ride! You might start the morning in a blizzard and end the afternoon in a t-shirt at a slope-side bar. The key is high-quality layers. Pack the heavy puffers, but don’t forget the lighter shells and plenty of sunscreen. That high-altitude sun is no joke once the clouds clear!

The clock is ticking on the 2025/2026 season. Don’t let another year go by saying “Darn- we should have gone!” Check our current inventory at Moose Management, and let’s get you into the mountains before the snow turns to wildflowers!
