How to Stay Cool in Park City This Summer

Baby, it’s HOT outside! With temperatures soaring all over the country, we’re all feeling the heat this month. Luckily, regardless of how hot and humid it is during the summer, Park City is a temperament mountain town that always manages to stay just a bit cooler and more comfortable than other sweltering states.

So instead of heading to the beach this summer to beat the heat, consider switching it up this year and heading for a drier, more comfortable climate like Park City. Our famous ski city is also chock full of fun things to do in the warmer months, too. And, a lot of our Moose Management vacation rental homes are equipped with private pools or community pools that are SO refreshing in the summertime.

Here are a few things we enjoy doing in Park City when the temps heat up:

Jordanelle Reservoir

Located within the Jordanelle State Park, the Jordanelle Reservoir is a gorgeous, sparkling lake that is fed by the fresh, flowing Provo River. It’s only a short drive from downtown Park City, and an epic day at the Jordanelle Reservoir can include activities like fishing, boating, and paddleboarding. Those looking for a bit more excitement can rent wave runners.

As always, our friendly Moose staff is more than happy to help you plan your day on the water!

Silver Mountain Sports Club

This popular sports club and spa has a virtually endless array of activities to explore— from spin classes to yoga to weight lifting, it’s all here. And during the summer, the Silver Mountain Sports Club family swimming pool is an amazing, popular spot to cool off.

Featuring water slides, a playground, and trained lifeguards on duty, this place will quickly become your family’s favorite way to spend a summer day.

Park City MARC

The Park City Municipal Athletic & Recreation Center (PCMARC) is another awesome place that has an amazing public swimming pool.

Besides the water-park-like pool with slides and fountains, they also offer dozens of family-friendly activities like karate lessons, tennis camp, a skateboard park, and even pickleball courts.

Rent a Home With a Pool

As we mentioned earlier, Moose Management has dozens of vacation rental homes that offer private swimming pools or community swimming pools to their guests, making your Park City summer vacation even more enjoyable and memorable.

Shhh… Here Are Our Park City Summer Secrets

Park City is a magical winter wonderland for ski and snowboarding enthusiasts, regularly appearing on all the best-known Top 10 lists. We’ve got that part mastered, for sure.

But did you know that summers are pretty amazing here, too? It’s a well-guarded secret amongst locals and regular visitors alike, but we’re going to let you in on it. And we’re going to tell you the top reasons why you should consider Park City as much your go-to summer destination as your winter one.

The Wonderful Weather

While the rest of the country is sweating it out and suffering through 100-degree temps and mind-numbing humidity, Park City is easy, breezy, and mostly dry. Our daytime temps fall between the mid-70s and low 80s, with beautiful, crisp mountain breezes. Ahhh!

Pair that with some sunny blue skies and you’ve got the ideal daytime environment, for any summer outdoor activity that appeals to you.

Something for Both Introverts and Extroverts

With far fewer tourists milling about, there’s a laid-back “locals” vibe around town that’s relaxing and peaceful. Smaller crowds translate to a lot less stress for those folks who prefer a more quiet atmosphere.

For those who do like the energy of a crowd, there’s plenty for you, too. Summertime in Park City means an abundance of summer festivals and music concerts. For example, check out the Deer Valley Concert Series and the Utah Symphony’s Deer Valley held at outdoor Snow Park Outdoor Amphitheater.

Terrific Hiking Trails

Here’s how to really take advantage of those perfect Utah winter temps! Throw on your hiking shoes, pack some snacks, and head out to one of the many scenic trails in and around Park City.

And there’s something for every skill level. For beginners or easy family hikes, check out Farm Trail, a paved trail that winds through Park City’s historic McPolin Barn off Highway 224.

The Round Valley Trail System features both easy and moderate trails in its 700-mile trail system. Access some of the trailheads at Quinn’s Junction and Old Ranch Road.

For more experienced hikers, you’ll want to visit Fantasy Ridge, which features six miles of beautiful scenery and breathtaking views at its 9900’ peak.

Magnificent Mountain Biking

Mountain bikers, take note… you will quickly fall in LOVE with Park City! From novice to expert, you’ll find the perfect trail to fit your abilities and get a great ride.

Beginners will want to start with the Lost Prospector trail, which is easily accessed from several vantage points and is a great introductory mountain biking trail, while intermediates will enjoy the Flying Dog Trail, in the Glenwild area of Park City.

Those hardy souls who can withstand advanced-level mountain biking will find their thrills at the Wasatch Crest Trail, accessible from several different points, and the Flagstaff Loop, at Deer Valley Resort’s Silver Lake area.
